Know the format
Games build sets and sets decide the match. The number of sets and the tie-break rules depend on the competition. Read its regulations rather than assuming every match uses the same final-set format.
Retirements and walkovers
A retirement occurs after play starts; a walkover can occur before a match is played. Betting markets may treat them differently. The published settlement rules determine whether a wager stands, is void or is settled on completed events.
Read a preview critically
Surface, schedule and reliable fitness information can provide context. Separate confirmed information from speculation. A shorter price is not a certainty, and a general scoring explanation cannot replace a bookmaker’s market terms.
