Omaha: the exactly-two-card rule
Understand the crucial difference from Texas Hold’em.

Exactly two plus three
In standard four-card Omaha, each player receives four private cards. The final hand must use exactly two private cards and exactly three board cards. A five-card board flush alone does not give every player that flush.
Variants must be named
Pot-Limit Omaha, fixed-limit formats and Omaha Hi/Lo have different betting or pot-award rules. This guide describes the basic high-hand construction, not every split-pot or five-card variant.
A practical learning check
Before comparing hands, physically select two private cards and three board cards. Then rank that five-card combination. More private cards create more combinations, not a guarantee of a strong or profitable hand.
