Blackjack: rules, decisions and table differences
Understand the objective, common actions and why the table rules matter.

The objective
Build a hand closer to 21 than the dealer without exceeding 21. Number cards keep their value, picture cards count as 10, and an ace can count as 1 or 11. A two-card blackjack and a multi-card 21 are not always paid identically.
Your decisions
Hit takes a card; stand keeps the hand. Double and split are subject to table restrictions. Check the dealer’s soft-17 rule, blackjack payout and whether doubling after splitting is allowed before using any strategy chart.
What works and what to watch
The decision structure offers more agency than a slot spin, but choices do not remove the house edge. A chart must match the exact rules. Side bets have separate payouts and mathematics; do not judge them by the base game.
